Since the Calradic Empire seems to be based off of the Roman Empire, I hope their playstyle is inspired by the Late Roman Army.

The Romans also used heavy cavalry units such as the Cataphractarii and the Clibanarii. They were heavily armored and used lances.
The reconstitution of the army, started by Gallienus, played a vitally important part in the recovery of the empire:
